Item #13754 Peruvian-born Léopold-Émile Reutlinger took over his father's Paris studio in 1890 and specialized in portraits of famous actresses and singers.
The costume and setting suggests French the actress's most famous role, as Catherine Hübscher in Madame Sans-Gêne which premièred in 1893 and was revived many times in France and England.
