Wiley Post - Harold Gatty Signed Envelope from 1931 Record Breaking Round the World Flight in the Winnie Mae

Mineola, Berlin, Moscow: 1931. Original Signed Envelope. Postmarked envelope. Paper envelope measures 3.5 x 6.5 inches. Postmarked and signed by both Pilot Wiley Post and Navigator Harold Gatty. Printed above their signatures is "Round the World Flight of the 'Winnie Mae'." Fold at flap and front panel partially separated. Good+. Item #13708

A collectible cover featuring a canceled red George Washington 2-cent stamp and postmarks from Berlin, Moscow and Mineola, NY. The duo's exploit was documented in Around the World in 8 Days (Rand McNally, 1931).

In August 1935 Wiley Post and Will Rogers were killed in a plane crash near Point Barrow (present-day Utqiaġvik), Alaska. Now housed in a removable, clear archival sleeve with an acid-free backing.
