Signed autograph pp. 2 note card 5-3/8 x 4-1/8 inches, with printed illustration by Théophile Steinlen and return address. Dated 25 juin 1900 to his publisher [H.] Geffroy concerning an error in delivery of a numbered copy of his Chansons et monologues. Light stains. (2.) 6 x 8-3/4 inch circa 1893 advertising flyer for Bruant's cabaret Le Mirliton with lithograph portrait by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec reduced from poster size. Moderate toning and edge chips. (3.) Clipping from Les Nouvelles littéraires of 14 Février 1925 announcing Bruant's death, with photo. (4.) Supplement to the Bulletin Municipal Officiel of 31 mai 1929 reporting on the Conseil Municipal de Paris inauguration of a commemorative plaque installed at 17, rue Christiani where Bruant died. With speeches by Jacques Ferny, Georges Lemarchand, Paul Bouju, Louis Forest, and Dominique Bonnaud. Moderate toning, edge chips. Very Good. Item #13308
Bruant (1851 - 1925) was a French cabaret singer, comedian, nightclub owner, and creator of the chanson réaliste. In Toulouse-Lautrec's portrait he is recognizable from behind in his signature hat.
