A fine memoir by the groundbreaking American singer and actress, the second African-American to be nominated for an Academy Award, and the first to be nominated for an Emmy Award. In her inspiring story, Waters details her difficult childhood and rise through the Vaudeville circuit
to her major successes on Broadway and in Hollywood, and how her deep faith gave her the strength, courage, and determination; the title of her book from the famous gospel hymn which became her signature song.

Dust jacket is now housed in a clear removable archival sleeve.
