Paris: 1894. Letter and envelope. Single 4-1/2 x 7 inch bifolium leaf written on one side in its stamped envelope with three different Paris postmarks. Minimally soiled. Very Good. Item #12839 "Mon cher Geffroy, Dès que vous avez les épreuves d'Yvette ayez la gentillesse de me faire signe. Je voudrai bien que nous examinons tout cela ensemble. Bien votre, T Lautrec". (My dear Geffroy, as soon as you have the proofs of Yvette please be kind enough to let me know. I would very much like for us to examine everything together. Yours, T Lautrec. Now housed in a clear archival sleeve with acid free backing.
The correspondence refers to the 1894 album Yvette Guilbert, which contains seventeen Toulouse-Lautrec crayon lithographs with text by Geffroy, published by André Marty. Gustave Geffroy was a journalist, art critic and historian of Impressionism. Guilbert was an innovative star cabaret singer during the Belle Epoque, performing at the Moulin Rouge and Café des Ambassadeurs. She was a favorite subject of Toulouse-Lautrec.
