First published in a scarce 1905 edition. Clarence Bagley guided the Marshall manuscript to print, and once expressed that his own research into the Whitman myth was the genesis of Marshall's work. Bagley, who as a young child crossed overland in 1852, is chiefly known for his multi-volume set on The History of Seattle. SMITH 6556.
