Item #1251 Christopher Offutt, in his revealing portrait of his father and his father's sordid livelihood ("My Father the Pornographer -- A Memoir" (NY: Atria Books, 2016)), informs that his father was paid $600 for this novel in 1968. Further, he allows that the plot was "a clever conceit": "someone murdered a model for a photographic bondage shoot; her sister was posing as a model, which allowed for softcore descriptions of women." Andrew Offutt was a key figure in the rise of the modern pornographic novel, which attained its height in the early-to-mid-'70s. Given the dubious moral stigma cast on the genre, lurid trade paperbacks were treated as contraband and thus suffered an exceedingly high rate of attrition. Cover art by Ed Smith. This debut effort by the self-proclaimed "King of XX Century Written Pornography" is uncommon at best and deemed rare by the absence (at time of this listing) of any copies on the open market.
