Item #12183 The agreement includes the provision that the "premises are sold [...] for improvement and cultivation" and that the purchaser and heirs "will settle upon said premises and build and occupy a habitable dwelling house thereon, and will also plow and put under cultivation not less than 50 acres [...] The company was formed in 1879 from the assets of the Saint Paul & Pacific. Hill then transferred ownership to the Great Northern Railway in 1890.
Agreement made on April 18, 1884 by the Land Department of the Railway for the sale of 160 acres for 480 dollars to Mr. Tamas Opsak of Angus, Polk County, Minnesota. With signatures of CEO James J. Hill, a Witness, the Commissioner and the Purchaser.
