Eight maps. Tipped in on the first preface page is a manifest for the Pacific Coast Steamship Company S. S. "Queen" departing Tacoma, Wash. on July 8, 1891. Decorated endpapers. Publisher's elaborate decorated red cloth binding, artfully presenting totem poles, Muir Glacier and an iceberg in Takou Inlet. Two leaves, both plates (Glacier Bay and Auk Indians) are loose. Bookseller tag on ffep (Magetts Brothers, Salt Lake City). A bit shaken, with wear to corners. First thus. Good+. Item #12

A triumph of decorated cover design. Published the same year as the first edition, with no substantial revision. Includes an arresting plate showing a "Mummy from Kagamil" in possession of Louis Sloss & Co. According to Ricks, Badlam was treasurer of the California-Russia Fur Company.
