Thomas Stevenson (1818 – 1887), lauded as the designer-builder of some-30 lighthouses, was also the father of Robert Louis Stevenson. Indeed, the forebears of RLS contributed to the construction of over 150 lighthouses. Rather than guide sailors, Robert Louis chose to roam the seas himself, notably landing at many points on the Pacific Rim.

A scarce work, with the last recorded sale of any edition being 1978.
