Bookplate of Theodore McKeldin "Governor of Maryland 1951-19__." Free endpaper gift inscription by Galen L. Tait dated December 25, 1943. Followed by inscription to McKeldin signed by Mencken: "In the hope that it will cure some of his headaches." Very Good+ / Very Good. Item #11005 Galen Tait was a prominent Republican Party member, serving as Republican National Committeeman from Maryland 1914-1934 and 1942-1948. He practiced law in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. Dust jacket is now housed in a removable clear archival protector.
McKeldin served as mayor of Baltimore from 1943 to 1947 and again from 1963 to 1967. He served as Governor of Maryland from 1951 to 1959.
