Peter Warren, a New Yorker, so to speak (he built a mansion in Greenwich Village overlooking the Hudson, leveled in 1865), was born in Dublin, 1703. His naval career, while lucrative in capturing prize ships, is highlighted by the then-Commodore Warren's participation in the capture of French-held fort Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, in 1745. He was eventually promoted to Rear Admiral of the Blue, and given a knighthood. B.
