The arrangement of newspapers is alphabetical by city. Thus, all territorial newspapers published in Seattle or Sumas are listed under their respective cities. As with Governors of Washington, Territorial and State, and Origin of Washington Geographic Names, Meany first published his findings piecemeal in the Washington Historical Quarterly over the course of several numbers and years. Once he felt his work was sufficiently substantial, the material appeared in book form, as here. This copy was evidently in a batch of new old stock, and appears as fresh as it must have in 1923. A very early University of Washington Press publication. Meany's Governors of Washington, Territorial and State being the first off that press.
