Previous owner was Jack Downing, "renowned spymaster," per Washington Post obituary, a refined sinophile who served as CIA Chief of Station in both Beijing and Moscow. Downing is cited on page 153 as having been appointed deputy to CIA Director George Tenet, and amended his reference in the index with another page number in pen. (That amounts to a joke, however, as that page references "Downing Street." A couple leaves with impression where Downing left a paperclip affixed. Dust jacket is now housed in a clear, removable archival sleeve.

Price: $40.00
